He is Emeritus Eminent Scholar, E. Webb School of Construction, Arizona State University, Arizona. Has been Fulbright Lecturer/Research Scholar, Universidad de Piura, Perú and Ricardo Palma Universidad, Lima Peru; Dibner Library Resident Scholar, Smithsonian Institute Libraries, Washington, DC.; Visiting Professor, Departamento de Ingeniería Civil, Universidad de Piura, Perú; Lady Davis Visiting Professor, Israel Institute of Technology, Technion City, Haifa, Israel.
Four decades of service to the civil engineering profession, as a leading international expert in construction equipment and mentor of young engineering educators. Has been Chief Engineer, Nello L. Teer Company, Durham, North Carolina; Engineer, Granite Construction Company, Grapevine, Texas; Engineer, T. L. James Company, Inc., Ruston, Louisiana. Also Executive Director, Directorate of Military Programs, Office of the Chief of Engineers, Washington, D. C. Deputy Commander, New England Division, Corps of Engineers, Waltham, Massachusetts. Army Engineer Staff Officer, Office of the Chief of Engineers.
Dr. Schexnayder is author and/or coauthor of the following books: “Construction Planning, Equipment & Methods”; and “Construction Management Fundamentals”. Also several works and papers, such as “Construction Project Cost Escalation Factors”; “Construction Scenarios for Precast Concrete Pavement Project, Practice Periodical on Structural Design & Construction”; "Estimating Large Complex Projects"; “Cranes for Building Construction Projects”; among many others.
Distinguished Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Fulbright Scholar Lecturing/Research Award sponsored by the U.S. Department of State; John O. Bickel Award, of the American Society of Civil Engineers; The Lady Davis Fellowship, for teaching /research in the The Technion, Haifa, Israel; Tasher H. Bliss Award of The Society of American Military Engineers, for outstanding contributions to military engineering education.
